This Ontario cottage engagement on Kawagama Lake is such a dreamy one! Oh my, the beauty of Ontario’s cottage country; it gets me right in those feels every time. The drive up highway 400 or highway 11 reminds me of my childhood and the best road trips to our home away from home with my parents. The smell of the lake and trees as soon as you get out of your car and the feeling you get once you arrive – calm, relaxed, home. When Britt & Rob asked to have their engagement photos at Rob’s family cottage on Kawagama Lake, I was so excited to photograph their story there. It’s actually where they met too, which is the sweetest. I arrived that day to the biggest smiles and felt so welcome with Britt, Rob, their pup and Rob’s family who was up for the weekend!
After some amazing chocolate chip cookies, we walked down the dock and played around the lake. Rob knew of this spot out in the middle of the lake where you could stand just ankle deep, so you bet we jumped in the paddle boat and got out right there. It was awesome getting to document their love on the lake where they met, and towards the end I got them out on the paddle board for a few sweet photos in the cool September water. Britt & Rob, thank you so much for having me up with your family, I cannot wait to photograph your wedding and see you again in the summer!
